LISTENING PRACTICE

azuer1 @ 18:18

Hi all!!!
It's been a long time since I last posted but I found this and I think it can really help you. It is a site with postcasts about different topics in English that you can listen to on your own. You have different levels to choose from according to your level of English. Level 2 should be right for most of you but you can try level 1 if you are not so confident or challenge yourself by trying level 3. It's up to you!!
Just click on the banner and enjoy it!!

PRONUNCIATION

azuer1 @ 19:58

Some of you may think that pronouncing English sounds correctly is just impossible. Come on, it isn't so hard! Even I could learn!! Of course it takes some practice. And you have to make strange movements with your mouth. I know, I know. You get embarrassed when you have to do it in front of all your classmates. You shouldn't. They have to do it too and they also feel embarrassed sometimes. So, why don't you practice at home in front of the mirror? It's excellent practice and nobody else can see you. You'll impress everybody in your next English lesson.
I'll give you some links for you to practise.
Here are all English vowel sounds. Pay attention and repeat the sounds. After some practice, you'll be able to make the difference between them.
Here are some consonant sounds and here are the rest.
If you want a website where you can check the pronunciation of an English word, try howjsay. Just write the word and you can hear it.

And just for a bit of fun, see Steve Martin trying to pronounce a simple English sentence with a strong French accent. It cannot be so difficult!!

In this online exercise you can practise this structure and at the same time, enjoy a very popular English poem by poet Jenny Joseph.
I hope you like it, enjoy it and find it useful.
